Fork in the Road Consulting is focused on assisting individuals and businesses with the Apostillation of United States issued documents.

What is an Apostille:

a document used in international law that is issued by a government in accordance with the Hague Convention and that certifies that another document has been signed by a notary public.

This is only used for documents used outside their country of origin.

The use of Apostilles was introduced to benefit individuals and businesses when interacting with foreign countries.

It allows any member country to accept a foreign public document without needing to verify it.

We don’t hold your hand through the process, we do the process for you.

For many people an Apostille is an enigma that people have no need to understand until they suddenly need it. People become aware of this requirement often with a limited time line for submital, which makes it highly stressful to try to navigate the process.

My goal is to take the stress and worry out of the process.

I work with a partner company in the United States to facilitate the smooth navigation of this process. We can assist in cases where the client does and in some cases does not physically possess the needed document. Additionally we can help when a document needs to be expedited or hand carried through the process.

Apostilles can be used whenever public documents need to be produced abroad. There are a variety of situations that could require this, including:

  • International marriages
  • International relocations
  • Applications for study
  • Residency / Citizenship in a foreign country
  • Intercountry adoption procedures
  • International business transactions
  • Enforcement of intellectual property rights
  • Foreign legal proceedings

Dear Visitor!

My name is Ruth Mitchell. I have lived and worked in both the United States and Europe over the last 20 years. I am familiar with how challenging it can be to get the needed documentation for government requirements when operating abroad. My goal is to help ease this process.

My inspiration for founding this company stemmed from my own experiences with relocation. During my family’s move to Europe, we were surprised to learn that certain documents need to include an apostille and must be submitted within three months of arrival. From this experience I learned the process and the regulations. I would like to share my knowledge and help those in need of an apostille.
